Shown above is all the sketches I have completed in this project time period of open studio in my sketchbook. I honestly dislike a lot of them, but I suppose you will never improve without practice. Shown below are the pieces I worked on in my "digital sketchbook" (adobe illustrator). Note - this is the best lighting I was able to locate in my house, sorry if the photos aren't the best.
Reflection ; This is a little embarrassing for me mainly because I dislike showing my sketchbook to people who I'm not close with as it contains a lot of my personal interests, but I'm trying my best to work on being a little more open about my art. All these works can be considered 'unfinished', but they will probably never be completely finished, because that's what a sketchbook is for, ideas and process work. My favorite piece (the one I mainly spent time on in class) is the painting of jinx referenced from a screencap of the show arcane. I really enjoy drawing this character, and I wanted to attempt a painting because it's a medium I tend to avoid at all costs. It was for sure a learning process, and although I don't really like the final product, I would be willing to give painting another try. I think my biggest mistake was making the eyes too big ( what can I say, I love drawing big eyes.), and I need to further study how to mix and layer skin-tones to make it look more realistic / add depth. Once again there are a couple slightly larger projects I would have liked to work-on, but I felt a bit burned out towards the end of this trimester with other classes and I didn't want to start something that I would be unable to finish. That being said, I'm always happy to progress with my sketchbook, and I will miss open studio once it ends.
