This is the final outcome of my prints!
Process Photos- this is the sketches I used to transfer onto the block as well as some test prints.
ARTIST STATEMENT:
I decided to create this piece because I was interested in the prospects of block printing. I had carved blocks a couple times before with varying levels of success, and this time I was hoping to attempt a larger project. I have a big interest in octopus, I've done a couple science projects on them before so it seemed like a good subject. Overall I am very happy with the outcome of the carving, and I had to utilize problem solving to mirror the block on different sides. The biggest struggle I had was lining up the block while printing, and If I ever did another similar project I would make sure to center up the mirror images in the block so I didn't have to estimate where the octopus was when placing it down.
